KISTELEK FESTIVAL AND HARVEST CELEBRATION

This day is about pig slaughtering, making traditional sausages, demonstrating our fantastic gastronomic culture and showing our traditions. All day visitors can participate in tasting our dishes and getting closer to the past. The festival is held in the Szent László Square.

Our Saint Stephen festival starts with High Mass, new bread consecration and horseback procession. This day is coloured by exhibition opening, cultural programmes, carriage competition, bands meeting and fireworks. Amusing programmes will wait for the visitors. The festival is held in the Market place and in the centre of the city.

CHEESE AND GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL

2nd Saturday of October

This programme is one of the leading events of the competitive dance world where nearly 30 countries represent themselves through their contestants and visitors. The lovers of standard and Latin-American dances can cheer for their favourites. The contest is held in the Sports Hall of Kistelek and the organiser is the Pro Art Dance Studio, which Club was established in 1981 by the dance instructor Törökgyörgy József. We are very proud of his daughter, the world famous Melinda Törökgyörgy who was world champion in Latin-American Dances with her italian expartner, Maurizio Vescovo in Vilnius in 2007. From 2009 she dance with the slovenian dancer, Andrej Skufca as Professional.

The motto is to maintain traditions, gastronomy and folklore. During the day folklore shows, cheesemakers, craftsmen and producers of honey, jam, sausages and other delicacies will welcome the visitors. The festival is held in the heart of the city, on Szent László Square. ’Chef Dual’ is for fellowships of our microregion who can match their cooking skills at night.
